Mrs. Maniac-

good idea on the dishes, wish I had done that instead of buying ones with Santa Claus on them. They have gotten broken over the years, impossible now to find replacements and they only get used once a year, not a good investment the white with gold trim can be used christmas, new years, birthdays, romantic dinners, etc. alot more possibilities. As they say, with age comes wisdom.

I know what you mean--I keep seeing the ones that have Christmas trees on them. They are pretty and I keep having to drag myself away from the display lol! I know they wouldn't be a good investment, but they're sooo preeetttyy.....

Made a wreathe!

I made my own wreathe last night! I bought a plain garland wreathe for $3 a Wal-Mart. Bought purple (brushed and shiny) glass balls and shiny silver ones of smaller size...bought 4 large (three to four inches in diameter) semi-extravagantly decorated balls of silver or purple...positioned the four large ones first, then the others throughout the rest of the wreathe. Bought a silver bow and silver trim with reindeer on it. Basically, the same wreathe premade ran $25. I made mine for $10. It's beautiful too! Add to that the lighted garland around the front door frame. Some purple bows that I made in the upper corners of the door frame..and I have a very festive door for the holidays!

OSI, I agree with you. I've often thought why take the tree down--decorate it with different themes during the rest of the year but I'm know much husband would think I was a nut. Hopefully our will go up this weekend as we usually do it over the Thanksgiving break but I'm a little under the whether so I don't know.

I did buy a small fiber optic tree for our bedroom and that is up on a small table in a corner. Since I've not been feeling well, that has been nice to enjoy while cooped up in the bedroom.

I also agree with the white plates trimmed in gold. My mother bought me a set of Christmas plates for XMAS a few years ago. While not what I would have chosen, they continue to make that pattern (Christmastime by NIKKO) so I've added to the collection. We generally use them throughout the entire month of December but the thought of lugging them upstairs from storage this year doesn't sound appealing so we'll see.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I saw an eppy of Carol Duvall where they were making wreaths from old Xmas balls--I'm going to try it. We bought some beautiful ones a few years ago--they never made it onto the tree because of the kids:p . This way I can enjoy them and keep it up where it won't be broken!

Pinkie Winky Christmas decorating

My daughter was ready a week ago! I told her she needed to scrub down the house first. That curbed her enthusiasm. At 19, she has higher priorities. I work full time and am too tired after work. We hope to have it all up by Saturday though. Happy Turkey day!

I put up my Christmas tree almost two weeks ago. I have a fibre optic tree and we love to watch the tree change different colors.
This is the first year in several years that I have felt like celebrating Christmas. I've put up my decorations inside too. I notice when I'm out at night more and more homes have their outside decorations on.
God Bless all of you and Happy Thanksgiving Day. In Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving the second Monday of Oct.
