We take the tree down a few days after Christmas....I like the house to be back to normal for New Years Day. Gee, I don't even have the tree up and I'm thinking when I'll take it down.....lol

My mum had a big christmas tree at her last house but now she is a much smaller house she gave away her tree. This morning I found a really cheap 2 part christmas tree at a garage sale so bought that and took off the top part, I've just put that portion and plaster of parised it in a small pail. The top half is the perfect size ofr her talbe top, I will decorate it and give to her for this year.
No decos up though

No tree no deco's for Christmas up yet. Got two wreaths not sure which I will put up, Gina made me one and the other one I had bought before. Probably use the one Gina made me as it has a Redbird on it and I so love them.
Will take tree down day after New Years

The first Satuday of December is always when I put mine up. Gowing up we decorated for Christmas then, but my mom wouldn't allow the tree to be put up until Christmas Eve. This was a custom when she was growing up. The tree doesn't come down after the New Year.

Most people of German descent use to wait till Christmas Eve to put their tree up. Is your Mom from Germany or other European country? When I lived in Germany (eons ago) my hausfrau put hers up on the Eve. She could not understand why EX and I put ours up earlier.

If we use our artificial tree it goes up the day after Thanksgiving. But, if we use a real tree it's usually around the 13th of Dec. This year we are going to try to make it special because of my mom's health.

When I was a kid we had a real tree, we lived on a farm and trees were plentiful, since we've moved state many years ago we have fake trees as the real ones don't last more than a few days with all the heat and humidity and I'd rather have the tree in a feild or the forest to live longer

I have not had a real tree since I lost my beloved hubby. He loved the smell of the pine and that spray stuff does not smell like a real tree. I have artificial and guess I will from now on.
