Decorating Themes for Your Christmas Tree

I like to decorate my Christmas in different themes..

Here is one that I would love to try:

Christmas On The Range

Red Pepper Lights

Cowboy hat for tree topper

Mexican Blanket for a tree skirt

Red bandanas to accent your tree

Use ornaments such as: toy size cowboy boots, metal stars, toy horses, and small cowboy hats.

For garland you can use thin rope or garland with silver stars.

Wrap your gifts with brown paper& red ribbons...or wrap gifts with red paper and raffia tied around the packages.

You can also add toy black & white cows, farm animals, tractors..

I think also clear canning jars with a string of lights in the jar would be a great touch too!

Hugs, Janet

Do you have a favorite theme to use on your tree?

Toyland Christmas

Make paper chain for garland...I have strung this along the ceiling, and used paper doilies for snowflakes..

Fill your tree with "your childs" small toys, stuffed animals.

Add bows for color.

Hang Santa hats on the walls, doors, with a few toys peeking out of the top.

If you have an electric train, place that under the tree..so it can circle your tree.

Add candy canes to wreaths, the tree, etc.

Fill the room with all your childrens stuff animals..big ones, small ones, etc.

Hugs, Janet

Janet
I usually have no theme for the tree but I do mix and match my tinsel colours to match what my decor is for the year. This summer my curtain colours are blue green and yellow, so will see what corresponding colour tinsel etc I have to go with it in "the box". I have heaps never throw anything out LOL
We still have a snow dome Cam made in pre school

I usually have a country Christmas theme going on.

This year though, I am focusing more on a kids theme....something like snowmen or a candy and cookie theme....not sure just yet.

I am going to try to decorate with stuff that my kids have helped to make.

We are living in a very small space and will have a smaller tree this year so I want to try to make it personlized and inviting for my kids.

I am not sure of what theme I will have on our tree this year...I even like a tree with just white lights on it..very minimal, but to me elegant.

Last year we had a real tree..it smelled so nice..but what a mess cleaning it up! Needles, and I think I was finding them all year. lol

I think this year I will look for evergreen scent to place on my tree..lol

Hugs, Janet

Janet, I vary the colour theme each year, and have my tree simple but elegant. As we use an artificial tree, I usually get a pine-scented candle and light it for the pine perfume to be around.
My tree is dark green and colours I have used are:
Blue
Gold
Red
Silver
Pale pink
then combinations.
This year I am thinking silver, mauve and purple.
I usually use some small wooden ornaments for the g/kids to enjoy but mainly keep it how I like it.
Always clear fairy lights on the tree, but do have coloured ones i the windows. Put up at least two nativity sets too.
Must start and get enthused for this year!

Your trees sound very pretty.

The funny thing about the pine scent, I love having real pine trees at christmas but I cannot stand anything that is scented with pine--candles or anything like that. I get sinus headache almost immediately. Weird, I know.

Tami, that doesn't sound weird to me. I can't be around any pine scent. Real trees send me right into an asthma attack.

We don't have a theme for our tree. But almost all our ornaments are either gifts to us, or homemade. We can remember where a lot of them came from. I keep meaning to start a little "ornament journal" that describes the ornament and its history if we know it. The kids all have their favorites that they like to hang. When they grow up and move to their own homes, I will box up "their" ornaments and give them to them for their own tree.

I use so many lights on the tree that DH says it looks like it's being X-rayed! But we put it in our HUGE (10 feet wide by 6 feet tall) front window, and it looks fabulous from outside. We have multicolored lights on the tree. No tinsel or garland. It takes me over 2 hours just to put the lights on the tree

I usually have a Bear theme each year,I have a bear village that lights up that I place on a round table with a train going around the village.

Last year's theme was silver, with clear glass balls with kids, grandkids names on them, irridescent Icicles and snowflakes.

This year it is Snowmen theme, snowman ornaments on the tree with the snowman tree skirt, snowman Christmas stockings, snowman garlands that light up,snowman placemats and napkins, and dh gave me a beautiful sleigh with Santa and snowmen in it.I have the new Hallmark singing Snowman playing a piano, yep it is a Snowman Christmas This Year.

Hemlynne, your tree sounds pretty! I am not sure what I will come up with this year..I guess it all depends if I am doing it myself, or if my guys will help..lol

Instead of pine scent...I also use rosemary, I infuse it in water & oil..and put of a warming mug pad, that plugs into the wall..it gives you a scent without the overpowering pine..I like to use fresh rosemary, found in the grocery store.

One year I had a live Rosemary tree(table top size)...I loved it..it was just added a light scent our room..

Hugs, Janet
