Ideas for Christmas Crafts using Pringles cans?

Does any one have any crafty ideas of gifts to make for Christmas out of empty Pringles cans? Big and small sizes?

They can be spraypainted and then decorated any way you wish...stickers, transfers, stencils, hand-painted...and then filled with Christmas candies. Or cut a slit in the lids and give them to children to use as piggy banks. I have one I've covered with a Native American patterned cloth, and use it to hold my wooden Native flutes...you could use them to hold brushes, pens, rulers, whatever. have fun!

I saw an idea the other day that I thought was very interesting. It was aired on Carol Duvall and I think the possibilities could be limitless.

The guest artist used a papertowel tube but you could easily use a pringles can and especially since it already has a bottom and a lid.

http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_dolls/ar...921728,00.html

She took some thick metal mesh material (I'm thinking chicken wire could work too) and she scrunched it to fit inside the tube. She then poured rice into tube and sealed off top. She made a cool rain stick!!! It sounded so cool. She decorated the outside to look like a Japanese doll with a kimono but the decorative possibilities here could be limitless. You could decopage, mosaic paper tiles, stamp, embellish, stickers, buttons, anything to decorate for a special occassion or holiday. I like the idea of using a pringles can instead of the paper tube.

Just an idea and I'm thinking it would make an interesting gift or decoration????

I made this a long time ago, and had forgotten about it until I saw your question.

You can make a Christmas candle, I hope I can explain it well enough .....

You will need a Christmas card with a scene, small piece of styrofoam cut into a circle to go into the bottom of the can, a votive cup and candle, various trims (rick rack, glitter, sequins, tiny little plastic figurines, just to give you a few ideas, but the figurines depend on what the picture of your card has on it).

I spray painted my can white. About a half an inch from the botton, (this is for a large can) cut an opening approx 4 or so inches high, like a dome or cathedral shape. Cut the picture from your Christmas card, (I think mine had the picture of a manager, but you can use any one). and slide your card inside the can to the bottom. This is the background for your candle. Cut the piece of styrofoam and insert that all the way to the bottom and this hides the bottom edge of your card, you will glue any little figurines/animals on top of the styrofoam. I glued rickrack around the edge of the dome/cathedral shape I cut, plus around the edge of the plastic lid.

In the plastic lid, cut a hole so that your votive cup sits in the hole but doesn't fall through (when you light the candle, it shines down through, like with my card being a manger, I used some wisemen and glued onto my styrofoam and with the candle lit, it was shining down like the Star of Bethlehem).

Use other decorations as desired to decorate the outside. These are fairly inexpensive to make, especially if you use old Christmas cards.

I hope this makes sense.....have fun!

I have been using Pringle cans for candle molds for a long time now. I was too cheap to spend $10-15.00 for imported molds.

1. I make a small hole in the bottom of the can, and feed my wick through it.

2.I then decide how tall(4-6 inches) the candle should be.

3. I then cut the can with a sharp 3" knife.

4. I then lay a straw across the top with the wick wrapped around it to take up the slack.

5.I pour my hot candle wax into the can, let it cool for 1/2 hour, then I repour to cover any valleys or holes.

6. After letting it cool for 1 hour, I then put the can in the freezer.

EVERYONE is very surprised when I give them the whole Pringles can with the candle wick sticking out. You then very easily tear the can apart, and you are left with a perfectly formed candle!! The look on a person's face when you give it to them is priceless!!

Many years ago when I was in school, we did this craft with toilet tissue rolls. We filled them with candy (you could use any size gift in a pringles can). Once they were filled with ? roll them up in a sheet of collored tissue paper. Tie each end with ribbons. We even put a small picture of ourself on the front. So the receiver would know were it came from. They are adorable. I hope this was clear enough. Let me know if any of you have questions.

TM Rezabak, love the idea of the "Chinese Crackers." I haven't made any yet but I have seen them in alot of magazines and the ones I saw in an upscale catalog were pretty and expensive! I've seen where they put names on a card and attach to front for place cards at a sit-down dinner. It's a great idea!

I have pictures saved to my computer of neices, nephews, my own kids and friends kids and I could make each of them their own personalized candy holder using their pictures in place of putting my own on!

And tissue paper is so much less expensive than decorated gift wrap!

Thanks for the great tip!

Thank you disneydel. I just had another neat idea. Instead of pictures. You coule print out their names in fancy letters via puter, and use for gift tags. How about even making these "crackers" out of paper towel rolls, oatmeal containers, and lg. long wrapping paper tubes. Imagine the endless possibilities of gifts to put inside.
