Question Ideas for a Raggedy Ann party?

My daughter will be 5 and having a Raggedy Ann & Andy party this weekend. I've already ordered the paper goods (plates, cups, napkins, etc..) from www.birthdayexpress.com
We're having a Space Jump set up for the party. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to entertain 20 kids ages 2-7 outside in the Mississippi heat?
Thanks in advance!

Here are a few to start off with. I will check for more later:

Invitation: Make your own printing out pictures with Raggedy Ann and Andy on them.

Decorations: Selected the colors: red, green, blue and yellow to accent the party. Use some plaid table cloths

Cake: Have a picture of Raggedy Ann and Andy on the cake. Winlton I think has a pan for them also.

Food: Coming soon

Games & Crafts: Upon entering give each child a nametag with their name ... like Raggedy Lisa or Raggedy Gina. Take a polaroid picture of them with a red raggedy wig on.

How about Face Painting.

Favors: Coming soon

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
Absolutely love the "Raggedy Shawn" idea for nametags!

You could even go to a thrift store and purchase clthing (for cheap) that is similar to that of the charachter and have the children divide into teams and then see which one can dress the fastest. Sort of like a relay race idea.

My son is an Aug Baby. A jumper is a sauna in the heat. I went to Target or Walmart and bought 5-6 water toys/pools for varied ages. For ages 4-5I had slip/slide, an inflatable pool with slide for the little ones I had a baby pool with an E-Z up shading it and loop d loop thing that sprayed water throughout the apparatus another toy that shot balls up in the air with water. Kept them cool, entertained and most importantly HAPPY. Each set of Parents watched over their own kid(s) so they to were occupied. It was great.

Face painting would be cute for this party, and take a Polaroid of each child after they're painted with a red yarn wig on, for a party favor. Children are usually enthralled with the magic of Polaroid pix.

In that heat, I'd recommend water play outside.

When my kids were young, I always set up a crafts table for the the kids as they arrived. Just a pile of magazines, safety scissors, glue sticks, and paper bags. Let them decorate their own party/loot bags.

This these really lends itself to a pinata! If you can't find a thematic one, make a Raggedy Ann head by papier-machéing a large balloon, when dry, paint and make hair from red tissue paper. Let the younger children hit the pinata without blindfolds, the 5-7 yearolds can be blindfolded. Whatever you fill it with, they can put into their self-decorated loot bags.

Activity Idea

Instead of pin the tail on the donkey, you could pin the hair or face pieces on a Raggedy person that you paint on poster board, with the items to be "pinned" on made out of the same, with the re-stickable glue, it comes in a stick form.
