Vitamins

My son will be 12 soon. He doesn't care for those children's chewable vitamins - says they taste bad. I checked at the store, but all the vitamins are so "specialized" these days! I don't feel his body is ready for a "men's" vitamin yet.

Are there any vitamins that are not big enough to choke a horse and are general enough for a pre-teen boy?

What would you suggest?

Hello, I buy my son (age:12) vitamins from the GNC store in the mall. They have vitamins for teens....just the right amount they need. I usually pick them up and it is buy one get one for 1cents! These are the kind you swallow, and he has no problem with the size.

I saw recently at the health food store that they now make vitamins out of gummi bears. I think at 12, they would be good because he would know not to eat more than one. I thought they were a great idea.

hello.
i saw bubble gum balls-kids vitamins at vitamin world last time i stopped in. probably would be easy to convince him to chew gum.:p
also- vitamins that you swallow might be a good idea to try.
vitamin world has 30% specials beginning of each month with membership card- and membership is FREE.
ot try wal-mart -they have great prices on vitamins!!!!

I would suggest asking your pharmacist. They are trained to know what is safe for each age/size and would have the best idea.

My son is also almost 12. He takes adult multivitamins and has for about 3 years. He is big for his age and the doctor told me back then to give him adult doses in everything! I only give him vitamins when he has had a cold or during times when I know he isn't eating real well. If your son eats as healthy as mine, he probably doesn't need vitamins. My son's Dr. said not to use them daily since it would mostly just be a waste of money since my son eats well. I'd make an appointment with a docotr if there is a reason that you feel vitamins are necessary- otherwise most fruits and vegetables are in season and in abundant supply! If your child dosn't "like" fruits and vegetables, don't buy junk food, but teach them to eat them by only having healthy around.
