misqueto bite allergy??

I am concerned... my 2 y/o son has big red spots everywhere. I think they are misqueto bites, but they could be spider... They have a hard lump in the middle of the red part, and it looks pale there.

Has anyone ever heard of someone being allergic to misquetos, and have this happen before??

He got bit about a week ago, and it's still not gone away. It's right on the bridge of his nose, and it looked like a regular misqueto bite to begin with, but as it started going away - it swelled up and got that hard lump. It's still there.

Do you think I should be worried about it?

Yes! Allergic reactions to bug bites can be very serious....sometimes even fatal! I know from personal experience!

If it were my child, I would call tomorrow morning and get an appt. with the pediatrician. Make sure you mention that you need the appt. for a possible allergic reaction....that way you will get in to see the doctor ASAP.

If this is a serious allergy to whatever caused the bite, the doctor may want to issue you an epi-pen to carry at all times in case of another bite!

I don't mean to scare you but allergic reactions are a very serious business!

Also, if it is a spider, anitibiotics may be needed.

Thanks for checking on us.... I'm sorry, I totally forgot to post!

No allergy, just some mean skeeters. The office receptionist said that they are seeing a LOT of bigger spots this year but it's just a bite... she said not to worry, unless it starts spreading out. then they would need to see me that same day.
