Creamy Bow Ties with Broccolini and Ham

RobertaD originally posted this recipe in What's for Dinner August 2009

Creamy bow-ties with Broccolini and ham

12 oz bow-tie pasta
1 bunch broccolini (12 oz) or broccoli
2 T butter
1 med onion, chopped
1 c half & half (I just used milk)
1/4 t salt & pepper
8 oz cooked ham, cut into strips
Grated Parmesan

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package, adding broccolini to water the last 3 min. of cooking. Reserve about 1 cup of cooking water before draining.

Heat butter in medium skillet over med-high heat until melted. Add onion, saute 4 min or until soft. Add half & half, salt and pepper simmer, uncovered 3 min or until thickened.

Add ham, cover and cook unitl heated though, about 2 minutes.

Toss pasta and broccolini with sauce. Add a little pasta water to think, if desired. Serve with grated Parmesan.

This recipe does sound good & easy. I like broccolini but it is hard to find all the time & can be expensive in Florida.
