Birthday tips

Does everyone still give gift bags at the end of a birthday party?

Are you talking about party favors? If so, yes I still give them out. My oldest is only 8 though. I would think with older kids there really is no need depending on the type of party.

When I decorate the table I use something for each place that the child can take home. For our 8 yr old Dgd party each girl took home a princess necklace.

If a craft is part of the activities they take their craft home, we made great pillow cases for a 14 yr old girls slumber party.

Pictures of the party are also a fun thing to hand out.

When we do a pinta it is filled with candy and small toys so the kids need a goodie bag to take home their stuff.

Love & Prayers,
Linda

Does anyone still give out gift bags after a birthday party??? I'd be afraid of being attacked if I didn't!!! Yes, I think kids definitely expect them. My favorite one I did was for my son's mountain bike party (8 yrs). I gave them all water bottles (they were from the bicycle club I had belonged to, and they were just given to me) and I don't remember what I filled them with ... this was 8 years ago but I am not big on filling a bag with just candy or useless little trinkets just for the sake of giving something out.

I agree with you there not wanting to fill the bag with candy and junk. I like to buy a book of coupons and put one coupon in each bag with some nutricious items. Thanks for letting me know they are still giving them out, my friend is having a birthday/ Halloween party for her daughter and my job is the prizes and now the gift bags.

For my older son's party in October, I did not give away treat bags- but that's because he had a sleepover party! If I'd had a "regular" birthday party, I'd have given out treat bags. I usually put a few sweet treats in there, plus pencils, stickers, and little dollar-store toys. I don't like to give out too much junk either.
