Presents that fit into an envelope

Hi everyone

I received a card today for my birthday that had a tea bag in it. That was a very thoughtful gift but it didn't cost the sender any additional postage than the card did.

That's what sparked this topic/question. What small items can you fit into an envelope with a birthday card that won't cost additional postage?

Items I thought of are:

bookmark
coupon
perfume or make up sample (like from avon)
small baggie of dried herbs
seed packet
recipe card

Any other ideas?

I have received and sent postcards inside greeting cards, as well as cute sheets of stickers. Also, those little "wallet inspirational" cards are great additions.

This is a great topic!

How about a lucky penny or other token coin?

A paper 4-leaf clover, a heart, a flag...something that represents whatever holiday is in that month.

I do want to caution--if you are sending cards out of the country, don't include tea bags, seeds or anything edible. Otherwise the "mail police" will probably open the card & the receiver won't get anything. I know this has happened in the past with cards going to Australia.

Just a heads-up on cards: my local Target had those "cases" of mixed-occasion cards in the clearance section. 20 cards in a nice organizer box for $5. So if you're in Target, take a look around
