Here's the basic jist:
-- you fill out a form (to be announced) with your name, address, and birthday
-- you agree to send out snail mail birthday cards to EVERYONE in the club
-- you RECEIVE tons of birthday wishes on your birthday!
As overwhelming as this may sound, it's probably one of the lowest maintenance clubs we have. Think about it... birthdays are sporadic, throughout the year. This is not like a holiday and you would need to send out 50 or so cards all at the same time, this could be two or three cards per week, or none in a week, it just depends.
I have participated in birthday exchange clubs before. What I do is this:
I go to the dollar or discount store, I find a package of ten cards (usually by the invitations and thank you notes) that are blank inside. I just purchased some cute smiley face cards, 10 in a pack, for less than $4.00. You can find even better deals where you get a whole box of cards and envelopes for a very low price.
Next I always have postage stamps on hand.
And of course, I use the
Family Corner Reminder Service to keep track of all my birthday friends. I input their name, address, email address, and a note at the top telling me which birthday club they are with (i.e. FC Club) so I can differentiate them from other contacts in my reminders. I would probably also record their username from the boards to easily identify them as many of us don't know each others' real names! LOL
Then when I get a reminder email, I immediately grab a card, fill it out, stick a stamp on it, and put it into the mailbox!
VOILA!
Now this club would really only have two requirements: 1 is that you hve a minimum of 75 posts, just like our other clubs. Next, it would be based on
your word. You would agree to send out a snail mail birthday card (or postcard) to all participants. E-cards can be sent ALSO, but not in place of a snail mail card. Anything else you wish to send is entirely up to you, but a birthday card or postcard is the only requirement.
There will also be a thread for each month to wish people a happy birthday on, as well as a thank you thread like in the Secret Sister Club, etc.
