I don't use the bag but I do cover my Turkey with foil first, cook till tender thin take foil off and brown the skin. I roast all my meats this way. I also give my turkey rub down of butter or olive oil. I sometime use rosemary or cajun seasoning. I sometime put garlic also.

The hardest part is peeling it, of course LOL - I boil it & then mash it & add salt, pepper & brown sugar and top it off the butter - It's soooo yummy!!! I love Thanksgiving - It's my favorite holiday!!

Happy Halloween!!

Thanks Stekim and totally agree peeling it is the hardest part but I want it for Thanksgiving as well as Christmas so I deal with the peeling. Sounds good your way, I have never put pepper in/on it but will try it this year

I always made a cranberry-jello salad. I will post the recipe in the Thanksgiving Recipe Thread.
It was my mom's recipe.

My Thanksgiving dish is Oyster Stuffing and my pies. I only make my Oyster Stuffing for Thanksgiving so it makes it even more special.

Last year I waited to long to get my oysters and couldn't find any in the stores. I called my boss at work. Her boyfriend owns a fish store about 1 hour away. Thanksgiving day they met me half way and gave me oysters. He wouldn't take any money. He had never had oyster stuffing before. He asked if I would make him some. I made an extra dish and ran it down to there house about 30 min away. They took it with them to their family dinner. It was a great hit. I gave him my recipe so he could make it this year. I am now hooked up for fresh oysters for Thanksgiving this year and every year.

Here I was thinking as I read the post that we were the only ones who make oyster stuffing and we only make it once a year at thanksgiving too. I can't take credit for it though as dh cooks all our holiday meals... I do some of the side dishes but he does the turkey and stuffing, gravy and sweet potatoes.

My signature dish is dessert (naturally!). I make a huge trifle bowl of "Death by Chocolate". It is layers of crumbled chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, chopped Nestles Crunch Bars, and Cool Whip. It's bad for the waistline, but oh so good to eat!!

OK goldeagle1, got to have the recipe for that dessert.....
I've liked most of the recipes shared here so far-except maybe the grits and pineapple-I love grits with eggs, can add cheese, bacon and/or sausage, onion too wouldn't hurt.

I make a sweet potatoe casserole that everyone has to have-got it from a friend years ago-my bil just mentioned a short time ago that he was looking forward to my sweet potatoes-although he doesn't care for my broccoli casserole and dilled cucumbers that I make also.
I've always wanted to taste oyster stuffing too, but I won't make it unless I know I'll like it-most of my family wouldn't eat it if they knew there were oysters in it. I'd like a really good recipe for sausage stuffing too-my mil made some one of the first holidays I spent with my then boyfriend-I know she used spicy/hot saugsage and it was so good.
