I personally have never liked Ritz Crackers but there is another one that looks a lot like them that I do like wonder if they would work for the pie?
I grew up on SOS too Sharon made with HB and also with Dried Beef that comes in the little glasses and now sometimes in the little "envelopes" You have to rinse the beef tho' as it is pretty salty.
Have never eaten Dandelion leaves in any way. Aren't they bitter?

Love thoes site some have recipes that my mother handed down to me. We all better get used to cooking this way again as times may be very hard and good fast food will be comming from our kitchens. LOL my hubby doesn't like to eat out say"s my cooking is better.
I think the orginal mock apple pie used saltines. My grandmother made this pie and I loved it. I think she used either ritz or saltines. I wonder if Ritz ran with the idea in the 70s?

We eat a dish called "tuna wiggle". It's simply a white sauce with canned tuna added to it. It's served over toast and topped with green peas (if you like them). This recipe came from my MIL.
We have this with salmon frozen corn nibbles and frozen peas, salt, pepper, over rice as a meal it delish!
Sammi no I've not tried the ritz cracker mock apple pie, not heard of until I was surfing and found the depression era title on a forum.
I have recently found a couple of recipe books at the library, 3 ingredient book and the 4 ingredients or less book, different authors, it's using the pantry staples and only a couple of extra things to make really good meals, some are useful some are not depends on what your family eats but worth of a look if only for ideas ... I thought they bothe tied in with the depression era as they had to come up with meals for the family with not many ingredients.
Does anyone have parents or g'parents that lived though this time in history?
Did anyone see on the news that Michelle Obama is starting a vegetable garden at the White House? It goes back to the time of Victory Gardens that families started during WW II. Also, the Burpee seed company is doing a booming business as more and more people are starting vegetable gardens this year because of food prices. I know I am going to make a bigger garden this year.
