Ordering Chinese Food

When you order Chinese takeout, what's your favorite?

I like Mandarin Chicken or Mongolian Beef, oh, I love those pork dumplings!!!! DH likes General Tsao's Chicken. DS2 will only eat Sweet and Sour Chicken and DD will only eat General's or S&S chicken. DS1 will eat it ALL!

I'm in a rut!! Either sweet-and-sour chicken (or shrimp) or shrimp (or chicken) fried rice. Occasionally I get the sizzling rice chicken or shrimp.

The ol' curmudgeon gets more interesting things: moo-shu pork, mongolian beef or
shrimp and scallops.

We both like the tea - either black or green. I eat both fortune cookies - he doesn't like them.

Cheerio!

I have only seen the name of this dish at my favorite restaurant back home in Pa.

It's called Spicy Capital Chicken. I order it extra spicy w/white rice.

Its lightly breaded chicken w/ brocolli, mushrooms, brocolli stalks, slivers of carrots, baby corn and green and red peppers in a reddish colored HOT sauce. YUMMY!

I have tried duplicating it here but can't find a dish that has the same sauce to match it.

My husband loves chicken w/garlic sauce. My son will eat either one of our meals or he and my dd like the Chinese chicken wings and white rice.

Gotta have egg rolls too!

Tami, that Capital Chicken does sound good! Wonder if it goes by another name in different places?

I haven't had Chicken with Garlic Sauce in a while but I do like that. Big DS is on a General Tso's kick so a lot of times we split an order of that. Kung Pao Chicken is another one that I like, and Cashew Chicken.

I love Cantonese Chow mein and will just have that as my meal...it is alittle of everything. I miss living in Victoria and having china Town right there. i loved going to dim sum...I love more traditional chinese food not the north American version of chinese food. I worked in a Chinese grocery store while attending university and the other kids that worked there would take me out for "good" chinese food

I have looked in other places but have never seen it in the descriptions.

If we ever make it home (hopefully someday soon!), we are already planning on going there. I will ask them what kind of sauce that's on it. Maybe that way I can create my own meal.

Debbie, what is a "real" version of Chinese food compared to our food here? I know that they Americanize lots of things here. Just curious because I would like to try it too.

Chinese is a rarity at our house. Though I LOVE it, my hubby is not big on it, and must REALLY be in the mood for it to eat it. My son doesn't really care for it either, though he will eat shrimp egg rolls. The other night we had shrimp egg rolls, shrimp egg foo young, and pork fried rice. It was soooooooooo yummy!!!
