I remember that tea. I can make it by the pot adding vanilla extract and amaretto or almond extract. If you like milk in it, the use the Coffeemate Amaretto and vanilla extract.
Since I now have to use artificial sweeteners I always add it first. Dissolves faster and better.

I have recipes for several different kinds of scones, Railway Cale (Spotted dog or Spotted Dick.... it's the raisens), Faire Cakes and other snacks for tea time. Let me know if you'd like a recipe.

Never thought of justing trying amaretto, will give that a try!

A thing my DH likes to do sometimes with his plain teas is instead of adding sugar or lemon he dissolves one or two lemon drops in his hot teas. Not bad if you can use regular sugar!

Just when you think Spring is coming it gets cold and snow in the forecast.

I loved lemon drop tea! They actually make a lemon drop just for tea, and you can find it online or at speciality shops. Wish they made it without sugar!
Since I really have to watch my sugars now, I have discovered lemon zest tea. Every cook should have a zester! I use a fresh lemon and zest a little peel into my cup with the Splenda or Truvia, then add the hot tea. The hot tea releases the essence of the zest and it is soooo good! Better than just a lemon wedge too.

For thoses of you who can have sugar, zest one lemon and add the zest to 1 cup sugar, mixing well. Shake it a few times every day for a couple of days and you have "Lemon Sugar". The peel is also candied and may be used in tea or baking. Works well with orange too. Keep it in an airtight container. Smells wonderful too!

Vivian, do you think that Splenda (for baking, in the bigger bags) could be flavored the same way? I will have to try the zesting for my tea the next time. Thanks!

I don't know. If the acid in the peel doesn't dissolve the Splenda it should work. I'd be more inclined to tr the Truvia as it is granulated though.
