Sounds like exactly what I went though last year. In the drains and they you turn the water on and you get swarmed in the face with them. I finally just put up one of the flyer sticky papers and within a couple days or so they were gone. Man that first day and it was covered.

I had some pears last week that attracted a small army of fruit flies. I did set a large jar on the counter with vinegar and water mixture about 1/3 full. Alot of the fruit flies did go in the jar and drown. Once in a while I would help them along by clapping my hand quickly over the opening and swirling the vinegar water around to drown them. After a couple of days and once I had the pears taken care of the flies left or met a watery death.

I have used a shallow dish of cider vinegar with just a drop of dish soap for years. We live in a rural area, and the windows stay open all summer, and lots of those tiny no-see-ums come right thru the screens at night. I just set out the dish by the sink, and dump/freshen it every evening. I'm not fond of the sight of a dish of dead bugs on the countertop, but I dislike those sticky fly strips full of dead and dying bugs even more!

I will keep the vinegar/dish soap tip in mind. I like natural ways of killing pests too.

Ctawna where in Utah are you? My daughter & I were in your state last year going to national parks. We started with The Grand Canyon(Arizona), then went to Zion,Bryce Canyon,Grand Staircase,Capital Reefs,Arches,Canyonlands & Monument Valley. The scenery is breathtaking!! Utah is very fortunate to have 5 national parks so close together. We had seen the parks on the Travel Channel & knew that we had to see them. We are glad that we made the trip.

Bumping up.

Fruit flies are so annoying. I am going to try these tips the next time I have that problem.

A couple years ago Gina and I had them really bad. But the vinegar trick did it for us.

This Is What I Do In A Small Bowl Put A Half Of Cup Of Water,2 Tablespoons Of Cider Vinegar, 2 Tablespoons Sugar, And A Couple Of Drops Of Liquid Dish Soap, Mix And Leave Over Night On Counter Or Sink.
You Will Be Amazed All Those Critters Will Be Floating On Top Of The Bowl.
Dead Of Course. This Works
