I would never wear someones shoes. I cleaned out my shoe closet the same week my dd was having a yard sale. I was going to toss my old shoes in the garbage can but dd said I'll put them in the yard sale. I didn't want her to sell old shoes, but she took them. I have never seen people quickly buy all my old shoes / dd's shoes/ and grandkids old shoes. Every pair was sold and every old pocketbook. A few people even told dd that her mom had the best shoes and pcketbooks. I guess it's true, that what I think is garbage is another persons treasure.

I do just about all that has been mentioned, toss the old worn out flip flops and sandals, donate the gently used to charity or freecycle, and use old tennis shoes for mowing the lawn until they fall apart. I never thought of using old shoes for planters. I have a lot of problems with my feet and sometimes only wear a pair of shoes a couple of times.

My old shoes become the ones I use for projects around the house, painting, yardwork, etc. When they are unwearable, they are tossed. I only donate shoes that I have hardly worn. Shoes mold to your feet and walking style and it is never a good idea to bur other peoples shoes that have been worn for any amount of time. And, as someone stated earlier....fungus, etc. YUCK!

We tend to wear shoes out before they can be donated but lately, my daughter's feet have been growing so fast that she hasn't made a dent in a few pairs of her shoes. They've gone to GoodWill.

I've sold work boots that my husband bought but then decided that he didn't like them - but they were worn so we couldn't return them.

I agree with everyone who said that if they wouldn't wear them, they wouldn't donate them.
