Even though I don't post very often I do enjoy the newsletter as it helps me keep up to date with whats going on. The parts that I like best are:
siggy sightings
member awards
poll topics
article and craft picks
forgotten threads

Amanda,
I have a suggestion (already ran it by The Welcome Wagon, DeBora), what if she was to sort of interview each newcomer, ask a few question like what are your interests, do you have children, where they are from, etc, and post the newcomer in the newsletter? Not everyone goes to the introduce yourself thread on a regular basis, and this might get more of us in there to do some welcoming. DeBora is okay with it as long as you okay it.

I love the newsletters and look forward to reading it every week. I have heard from many that they don't know how to copy and paste to read the subject lines. To bad there is not a way to just click on the thread and automaticly read it.
I always try to remember not to read the newsletter before signing on Family Corner.
If I read it first I lose my new posts since I last visited which is helpful.
The newsletter keeps me in touch with all that is going on.

I love the newsletter. I think it is grat and I also think it covers all topics. I had a problem severl weeks ago staying on FC. Something kept bumping me off and now it seems to be fixed! As far as interviewing newbies...I'm not so sure. I think it should have to do with a post count. But that is only my opinion.

Hi Sueanne, What titles are they having to cut and paste in order to read the articles...etc? There should be a link underneath the titles of each article, crafts or the questions of the week. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Tami

Years ago, we always had a recipe of the week posted.. I liked that.

Anna, we still have the Chef Guy Award each week in the newsletter and it features the winning recipe. We also have at least one Blue Ribbon Award recipe featured, too.

This is a common problem for both Compuserve and AOL users. About 1/3 of the newsletter subscribers are from these two groups. There is a solution, though it does have its drawbacks as well.
I can create links that are clickable for AOL users. However when I do that, they will show up as "raw html code" for everyone else. If I were to put AOL friendly links in the newsletter, while they would look fine for AOL and Compuserve, they will look like this for everyone else:
HTML Code:
GROCERY CHALLENGE SUMMER 2008
http://www.familycorner.com/forums/showthread.php3?t=22799
Welcome to our Grocery Budget Challenge! Anyone can
participate--just state your grocery budget for the month, and
then track your totals to see if you can beat your goal.
<a href=http://www.familycorner.com/forums/showthread.php3?t=22799>AOL click here</a>
Now what I can do is either include the AOL friendly links in the newsletter right after each regular link (this may appear quite messy) or I can include a section at the end of the newsletter for AOL friendly links.
So something that looks like this for non-AOL members...
This time, the theme is going to be autumn/Halloween so your stories need to use smilies to express as many words as possible and your story should be focused on anything that has to do with autumn or Halloween.
Members will be allowed to submit one story pertaining to a Halloween story and one story pertaining to an autumn story. Please click here to enter!
