seleach has won a crown for 5 Cooking Tips!· When I am just going to cut a couple slices of onion or tomato I use a lid from a coffee can to cut on instead of a big cutting board. I keep a lid just for this purpose.· When baking a pie, brush water over the top crust and then sprinkle sugar over it.· Sometimes I use a toothpick to dip round candies such as truffles and peanut butter balls into melted chocolate. Other times I use a meat fork that has the tines curved up a little.· When I need to cut up sticky dried fruits like dates or figs, I spritz my kitchen scissors or knife with cooking spray.· When I make a layer cake and I want the top to be perfectly flat, I flip over the top layer so the flat bottom is on top.
