There are several new awards available, and you may already be in the running for one without even knowing it! Our very own Barbszy came up with the idea to use a tip of the week from our most popular forum, “What Did You Do Frugal Today”. Each week a tip that was shared by one of you will be highlighted in the weekly newsletter and may even be featured in the FC newsletter Frugality Corner! Anyone’s tip that is chosen will receive the Frugality Award.
But that’s not all…
As a result of this fun idea, we have decided to use reader tips in all of our newsletters, not just our frugal ezine. All in all there are 7 different categories that your tips may be gathered from:
- education, homeschooling, homework - frugality, money - home, garden, organizing, decorating, repair - fitness, diet, your health, pampering, fashion, beauty - parenting, family time, travel - kid’s crafts and activities - adult crafting
There are 7 different new awards available to cover these areas. If you tip is used you could find yourself sporting a new icon!
(IMPORTANT NOTE: keep it honest! If we find that a member has blatantly plagiarized another website or publication for the sole purpose of gaining an award, that award may be revoked.)
Wow! I’m not done yet! You can also receive a Queen’s Crown Award. This is given to anyone who has earned 5 of the same Award. On their fifth, instead of the regular icon they will receive the crown instead. (Must be five of the same award, i.e. 5 Chef Guys, 5 Frugality Awards, 5 Honorary Members, etc.)
Nominations - You can also nominate someone for a particular tip you found to be useful. Simply click the link below then choose “Request Award” next to the appropriate icon.
Hello! I'm new here, and was wondering what we do to get the award...who do we send our *tip* to? I've looked around and just can't seem to figure it all out! Can you help me please???? Thanks!

That's actually a very good question You don't atually send the tip anywhere. What our moderators will be doing is watching their designated forums, and any time they happen to see a helpful tip that was posted by a member, they will submit those for the award and the newsletter.
So basically, the more you participate in different areas of the forums, the better your chance of earning an award or two For example, if you are a crafter and found a great way to organize your spools of ribbon or jars of buttons, post those suggestions in the crafting forum. Our crafting moderator may find it and suggest it for the Crafting Tip award.
Also, if you happen to find a tip from another member on one of the forums and find it to be especially helpful, you can nominate THAT member to receive the award for their tip! Simply go to the award link in the first post of this thread, find the award you want to nominate the person for, then click "Request Award".
I hope that helps answer your question, thanks for posting it!
Amanda and Barbz, you did another fine job for us here at FC. thanks for giving us more chances to win awards.
Question, couldn't there be tips in other areas beside the ones you wrote Barbz?
like prayer journaling tip?
a good tip from one of the Ss member to help other SS members?
Well, the idea behind these particular awards was to cross-promote the forums and the newsletters. So the awards are based on newsletter topics. The member not only gets an award on the forums, but their tip is published in the newsletter.
That's not to say that Amanda wouldn't consider your other suggestions for the future....just to explain the list of topics that you see above.

Or is it just for those areas you mention?
Actually Tami has already come up with an idea similar to this. I just haven't had time to implement it yet. The idea is for a "Good Buddy Award" or something along those lines and more details will come soon :-)
