At what age did your kids start drinking from a straw?
When we were out the other day, there was a family with a baby sitting in a high chair who couldn't have been a year old. He was eating food and drinking from a straw like a champ! He was so cute to watch.
I remember that it took my son a while to learn how to drink from a straw. He was a little over a year old. I don't remember the exact age for my daughter but it was before she was a year old but not as young as this little guy.
How old were your kids when they started drinking from a straw?
Tami my 3 kids were around the 1 year mark when they drank through straws.....most of my daycare kids are about 14 months to 16 months when they start. I use sippy cups with straws in them for some of the kids who can. i like to get them off the bottle as early as possible....so much better for their teeth.

Straw drinking helps strengthen the muscles in their mouth which helps their speech when the times comes. I learned that from dd2's speech therapist as she was delayed and part of her homework was to eat jello, pudding, and yogurt through a big straw to work the underdeveloped muscles.
If I had know I would have started my kids much younger on straws and ditched the sippy cups except for in the car.
My oldest dau started drinking from a straw in April before she turned 2 in Aug. My babysitter taught her while we were at a restaurant. Honestly don't remember about the others
