Pinkie Winky Game Night

Hi there
I need some advice.... now that I've established a game night with my family, I'm trying out the idea of having a once a month game night with my girlfriends. The problem is, there are sooooo many board games on the market, I'm wondering if anyone knows of some tried and true games (whether new or old) that are worth the purchase. Sometimes these games cost $30+ so I'd like to get some input before I go on a board game binge!! Thanks in advance for your help!! ;-) ;-)

What we do, is, everyone brings a game and we decide that night.
Another idea is,if your switching from house to house, the host can decide.

One last idea, have one person each time decide on a game.
Saves a lot of money !

When a bunch of us used to get together we had a blast playing Scattergories, Trivial Pursuit, Monoploy, Scrabble, Uno and 51 ( playing cards).

Probably didnt hurt that we had wine coolers and mixed drinks sometimes too! ;-)

Have Fun!!!
