shocking Adults & kids together party??

Hi.

I am looking for ideas for having parties with both adults and kids. In the past, I hate to admit, my "parties" have been rather boring.

The group is usually rather diverse in intelligence, age, interests, etc. So any suggestions?!?!?!?!

I am hoping to put together a party mid november.

So far I have NOTHING planned. It will be at my home.

Thanks in advance for suggestions. Thanks for reading this!

Question Just curious

What kind of party is this going to be? Are the guests relatives? Do they at least know one another? Are there any comon interests amongst the group? How many guests will there be? Will you be serving a meal? If so, will it be a sit-down, or buffet, or just snacks? Would you be willing to plan a theme party? ( like a "Mystery" party or a "Luau" party?)

Once you start to think in these terms it starts being easier to come up with ideas...

Planning a successful party depends on "knowing your audience". You have to entertain the group by catering to their needs...not just planning generically...otherwise it can be very difficult to make it exciting and memorable for your guests. then you have to consider you budget above everything else.

I have a lot of great ideas...I just need to know "who" I'd be planning for!

A "Chefs in the Kitchen" party might be fun and atually less work for you! I learned this one for a terrific kids' party theme book called The Pennywhistle Party Planner that I got at the library, and i did this for my daughter's b'day party. it would work for a adult/kid party. I provided pizza dough, sauce, and toppings and they made their own pizzas. I provided the ingredients and the recipes for make-your-own pretzels and ice cream and they made them. I provided a sheet cake and decorating bags with different colors of frosting. I provided all the recipes and a bunch of wallpaper samples and gluesticks and they made their own cookbooks as a take-home favor. The biggest part of pre-party labor was that I made aprons and personalized chef hats for everyone.

A parent/child craft party can be fun... provide fabric paints, sponges and stencils, and a tee-shirt (or ask them to bring one) and have some books of sample ideas.

I think the ideas so far are great, I think I'll file them away for myself. Wanted to add one more idea - how about a scavenger hunt? They could rummage through their own purses and cars, or they could check with your neighbors (warn them!).

I've been to a party when they had a TREASURE hunt, and we had to drive to get the clues (local school, payphone at a convenience store, library, etc.). When we got back, the FOOD was ready!

Might need small prizes for the winning teams.
Have fun! Dawny
