120th birthday!

I figured that title would get your attention! LOL!

I will be turning 50 this summer and mom will be turning 70 so we are having a 120th birthday picnic!!!!!!! How fun is that!!!

Mark and dad are hosting/BBQing but Mom and I are helping with the planning ! I need all the good ideas and suggestions you can give me! I can tak even a little idea and turn it into something big so please give me a bunch of ideas so I can start brainstorming!

Our theme is "When I am a Little Old LAdy I will Wear purple!" All the decorations, plates ,etc. are going to be purple and everyone will be asked to wear purple if they so desire.....
And there is a spray park if anyone wants to run thru the sprinklers! Me and mom will be!!!!!

hugs, train

What a fabulous idea!

You and Mom should both wear tiaras (and maybe even a fancy homemade sash?) to celebrate the occasion! I love the purple theme for summer!

You're never too old for bubbles. Hand out small bottles of bubbles to all of the guests.

Do you and your Mom have favorite poems? Maybe you could have some guests read some of them. Do you keep a journal? You could go back several years and read about where you were at that time in your life as compared to now.

Buy or make 2 "autograph" books to pass around. Ask the guests to write something in one for you and one for Mom. You will have this to treasure and look back on! You can update it with pictures afterwards.

I can't wait to see the other ideas people come up with!

Tami,
I loveLoveLOVE your ideas, especially the tiaras and bubbles!!!!!

We are having love/friendship letter requests sent to all our relatives and friends who live far away to attend the party......... to make baskets out of.
I like the idea for the autograph book though for the people who WILL be at the party!

What a good idea on the journal, I have them going all the way back to elementary school!!!!!

Thanks Tami and keep the good ideas coming everyone!

hugs, train

Donna what a fun idea!!!!

For my parents anniversary we used scrapbook paper and every person/couple got a page to write something...We made sure they all brought a pic of themselves and attached it to the page...you could also have someone taking shots so they could be added later....after the party we took pics from the party and added them too...My parents love looking over this keepsake album from their special day.

How about some info on the years you were born and if you can find items from that time period bring them..ie if a hula hoop was popular then have a contest to see who can do it the longest.

hugs debbie

how about a laptop set up with a power point presentation of pics from over the years.

Train, I agree with Tami, you are never too old for bubbles. As a matter of fact I was blowing bubbles yesterday. Of course it was to entertain Eli and Jakob. (not to mention me, LOL)

What about a very photo of you and your mom from when you were a baby, and have it matted with a large mat, every guest writes something around the photo.

Lots of disposable cameras! Or a few cheap digital cameras.

Connie great idea I had forgotten that Gina had them on every table and guests took pix then Gina had them developed some of the guests had them done and then gave her the pix. Needless to say lots of duplicates or near ones but no problem gave her plenty to share with friends/fam who could not be at the wedding.
