Man's 40th bday party

Help! We are invited to my friends husbands 40th birthday party & I have no idea what to get him. I know he likes hunting & fishing, that's about it. We need to get him a gag gift too. I don't want it to be anything too raunchy though. Any ideas?

Tara, go to Fun Party Stores, you will find all kinds of "fun" stuff there. Buy him something that says "Over The Hill" or something about needing dentures or a cane. When Andy turned 40 I bought all kinds of stuff like that. My favorite was a magnet I put on his car (without him knowing of course) was
Driver just turned 40, please honk!

We did a "Flintstones and Dinosaurs" theme party when my DH turned 30. Very easy to find dinosaur stuff for a party. Friends of ours came dressed as the Flintstones--it was really cute.

Just a thought, when I turned 50, a lot of people brought things like adult diapers, etc. Since I didn't use them, we donated the items to the local nursing home. I feel it is such a waste to just throw them out afterward, Some of the items aren't cheap!

For the real gift, ask your friend what type of fishing lures he likes. You could make up a fishing tackle box full of his favorites -- or give him a gift certificate to somewhere like Bass Pro Shop -- and that would work for either hunting or fishing.

Now I have that really annoying commercial where the fish plaque is singing (Give me back that fillet of fish....) playing in my head.

A singing fish or a balled cap with antlers.

A new fishing lisense, or a camping chair to set on.

OMG you and I think so a like! I was going to post that a certificate (as lame as that sounds) to a favorite Hunting/Fishing store is perfect for him and so is the talking fish.

I try to stay away from the over the hill gags for men in their 40's - that's really their prime years, and until they start talking more frequently about those expensive toys they wanted in their youths, they aren't ready for OTH items.
Another gag gift would be buying HIM lingerie for HER and not putting a "from" gift tag on it... That's what some mutual friends of ours did for her hubby's 30's b-day

This idea is terrific.
