Happy Birthday Kristin!
I turned 49 on St. Patricks Day and you know what, it didn't bother me in the least! Like you though, when I was in my 30's I felt like I was on a slippery slope and was depressed at turning 35. Something happened when I hit 45 though and it no longer distresses me to age. I am a grandmother of 3 and look/feel younger than I am. Of course my dh who is 3 years younger than me likes to tell me that "no matter how old he gets, he'll always be yonger than me!"

He taught me years ago that age is just a number.
I have a blessed life with the man I adore, 3 great daughters and 3 beautiful and almost perfect (yeah, right!) grandkids. I've finally come to realize that it's the quality of my days not the numbers that matter.
Things could be worse for you--my twin sister has had to bake her own b'day cake for years if she wants one. Her dh, dk's and even our dm (who used to live right up the street!) never volunteered to make it. How sad is that?
Have a great birthday and give thanks to the good Lord for another one!

And next year tell dh that HE can plan the party--you're just going to sit back and enjoy yourself.
