Things

THINGS!!!!!

I heard this saying not long ago and wanted to share it:

"You never see a U-Haul behind a hearse!"

I have always been a "things" person. Not overly materialistic in big ways like clothes, shoes, makeup, etc.
I have never even had a manicure, massage or pedicure. I dont get my hair done.
We dont have a big screen TV and we live in a 2 bedroom cottage. I am still driving my Camry we bought ten years ago.

HOWEVER, I have been VERY materialistic is small ways like food, books magazines, candy, pens, pencils, postcards, candy, etc!!!!

Lately I have been going thru the closets and garage though and decluttering and I cant believe I am saying this but it feels good! The exception is I am keeping my pictures and journals, but boy, it feels good to get rid of junk!!

Trying not to be so much of a Things person and keep what just matters.

How about you?

It seems no matter how much I try to get rid of there is still too much. One of my issues is too many books.

Blessings,
Dawn

have you asked yourself the question why?
is it because you underline /hi lite things and keeping the books due to this reason. I did. Then a idea came to me, write or copy those pages and then I could get rid of the book.

if not just ask yourself why, and see if you can find a solution to that why.

I'm working on getting rid of more things and do agree with you on this. I think if we all spoke the truth we all feel this away.

The hi-lighting doesn't bother me, it is just that I enjoy books way better than reading on the internet. There is something special about holding and reading a real book.

Blessings,
Dawn

do you re=read ur books over and over? if not then there comes the time, you need to give them to others to read, sell them and make a little profit or to get more books. LOL..
How many books do u have?

No! I don't re-read in the way I guess everyone else does. I like to scan through and read maybe a chapter here and there. I am unsure if I have ever truly read from cover to cover because I don't read novels and such, mainly informational type books. I have three bookshelves full and some stacked on the floor. I do get tired of the books sometimes and will take a box to the thrift shop every now and again. But, than I will just re-buy other books to fill the empty spots ;P LOL!

Blessings,
Dawn

sound like myself.
this is why I will hilite things in the book, later copy what I want to keep, into a folder, ( should say used to do this, need to get back in doing that) then get rid of book.
Lots of time when I go back to copy things down, I realize I do not need to keep that part I hi lite.
does this make sense?

I used to have books in my room, in my computer room, living room, etc.
since my life changed since 09, and I've had to downsize alot and still downsizing, things has changed.. but I do love those self help books, informational type books, short stories, devotional, quotes and saying, etc.. Not novel.. to long for me. and I get bored before I've finished it. LOL
