What is something...

What are some things you do not understand no matter HOW hard you try?

For me:
math
tax returns
anything computerwise
anything having to do with programming the VCR

Mine are similar to yours. I can understand most basic math but not word problems or fractions.

I used to do the simple tax forms but they have gotten more complicated every year. Now Dh uses Turbo Tax and I look them over before he sends them and ask questions on anything I don't understand but one year I was out of it when I had my thyroid "nuked" and didn't look them over. He forgot something, so a year and a half later we had to pay a hefty penalty.

I never could figure out the VCR and was glad when they came out with DVD players that are so much easier to use.

You must know enough to use the computer for FC. The first time I ever came to Family Corner I couldn't figure out how to get around and gave up but tried and tried again and think it has been made easier to use since then. I'm more the logical type and use the computer mainly for e-mail and typing snail mail letters.

I will add some sewing to my list. Once when Danny was still working at the Old Oak Ranch camp they were having a western theme and I tried sewing some old fashion "Little House on the Prairie"- type bonnets for six little girls. I bought the pattern and got them all sewn except for the back portion above the neck and just could not figure it out. Fortunately, it wasn't a place that would show and they used them anyway. I didn't get them all back but kept the first one I made.

So sounds like you and I are "technically challenged" twins!!! LOL!! I like having just ONE remote but Mark has two and I have no idea which is for what!!!

Yeah, I can get around Family Corner pretty well. Still dont know how to send a link though Barbar, bless her heart, is trying to teach me!!!!

Yeah, sounds like we are the same on sewing, too! I once tried to make a dress and it came out looking like a gunney sack!!!!!!

hugs, train

I am definitely technologically challenged. I had to have my children how to use my iPod, my cell phone and how to do some things on my computer. The worst part is, they have had to show me simple things more than once! I know both my digital camera, iPod and computer can do a lot more things than I am capable of figuring out.

I avoid math like the plague. I can add, subtract, multiply, divide, do percentages and fractions but anything more complicated and I get brain freeze!

I have always wanted to learn to sew but again, can never remember how to do things on my sewing machine. (I always forget how to rewind bobbins etc.)

oh well.

I'm in my 50's and I've never really understood the games of basketball and football. Many, many people have tried to educate me and it just doesn't take. I just sit and watch games, nodding and smiling and cheering when everyone else does.

I have concerns about Algebra and higher math, it's a complication I get at the moment it is being shared with me and then poof like smoke it's gone., I guess that means my analytical or logical side escapes me -This goes right along w/Taxes.

I'm hit or miss on the technical stuff, some of it sticks and I get it, but others you know I could just throw out the window and be just as happy to not use it.

Sports is another give and take thing, I get the scoring when it occurs, and I can route for certain Teams or players now and again... NASCAR to me is not a sport and I like it best - as in as much as a sports fanatic will have every tv, radio, etc on for their favorite games at once, but just one tv or event at a time, and yes I will flip channels if two races are on at the same time b/c one of them will eventually have a commercial or caution flag. No this does not include the crash 'em up derby stuff.

But my all time " things you do not understand no matter HOW hard you try" issue is MEN, more specifically my DH. He is not like the "typical, stereotype" male. I should be happy, especially since I am not the typical stereotype female, we are very much so opposites, and some how we have attracted the other for about twenty years now give or take (21 years of marriage). He is very technical and I am very creative. It doesn't stop there...

I can not make sence of algerbra what so ever. How can A +B =124 or something like that. Also fractions, I can do basic but to divide or use mixed number forget it. I'm better at eyeballing it.There are some directons that i have a hard time with, like a confusing sewing pattern or yahoo driving directions especially when they put you in a different area all together.

I love math. I convert fractions to decimals in my head and use algebra daily. I am analytical and my down fall is I need an explaination for everything. Once I understand the why? then the how becomes much easier and clearer.

One thing I have always wanted to understand how to do is hit a softball. I don't know what it is, but I cannot keep my eye on the ball and swing a bat at the same time.
