How many of you have gotten in touch with an old friend or had an old friend get in touch with you on a social network such as Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace? What type of friends were they (i.e. old high school friends, old co-workers, old neighbors, friends of your parents, people you knew as a child from church, and so on)?
OMGoodness, I have found a lot of old classmates on Facebook and it has been wonderful!!!! I got to see quite a few of them when I went to Washington last summer!
I got in touch with a good friend from HS in 2007 when I checked out her family name on google. About 6 months later we met for dinner with our spouses and her brother (who I also knew) and his wife. She happend to be spending a month that September at a camp on a lake in my state, where her brother lives, for part of her sabatical from her college teaching job. It was so great to see her again after so many years (decades really). I hope we can do it again when she is here in Maine visiting her brother.
I find it a good thing too. A girl that lived with us for 9 months found me and is now my friend. I have had to put all my friends in groups, like FC group, HS group, and so on. It is easier for me to keep up with that way. I found this that will help you organize your friends' lists and I think you will be able to choose which group has access to what information about you.
I just love FB. I have found so many of my girlfriends from high school. I have also found very close family friends who had moved away and I had lost touch with them. I have social anxiety disorder so it is really nice for me to be able to visit with my friends on FB
