Mine was 3 years ago - My Dad had just found out that he had terminal cancer & we knew that he might not make it to christmas - My whole family came to my house for dinner, including Dad & Mom - My 2 brothers & my 2 sisters & their spouses, My husband, all of our children & their significant others - A couple of them have children, Dad's great grandchildren, All of us were here - Our Pastor came down & took our family picture - We knew it was going to be the last one - My brother Scott who is a minister said some words before we ate about how much we loved Dad & how much he had meant to us over the years - It was very sad but was very important to all of us that he said it - Then my Dad said some stuff & we ate dinner - 3 weeks later, a few months before he turned 70, he went home to heaven - He was here for my sons bday (12/2) but a week before Christmas, he graduated - I sit here crying as I type this, but it was the most meaningful time that we ever had together as a family - As Thanksgiving gets closer, it brings back alot of memories - I miss my Dad, but am thankful for the times that we had with him, especially that last Thanksgiving.....
I don't remember where I was at, or who else I was with (besides DH), but I was sitting with a group of people at a round table with white "paper" cloth and crayons... we were encouraged to write on the paper cloth what we were thankful for... I remember not writing the words but drawing stick figurines, and something relatively close to what was ordered at our table, and the solar system - basically life and being apart of it.

The 1st time I cooked for dh family, we lived in a bi-level. I had taken the turkey out to carve when it took a flying trip down the 6 stairs to the family room, where everyone waited,. Luckily I had really cleaned cause it was the in laws , so we picked it up and carved and served it. We still laugh about it today
