What birthday ( eg. 30th, 40th 50th etc) is the most tramatic ? and why?

Hi , My Dh and I were having a discussion about birthdays ( mine is today and i am 36) and he said that your 40th bday is the most tramatic. I personally think it is a guy thing ( he is going to be 40 this year LOL)

I just think it would be just another bday ...just like my 30th.

What are your comments on this?

Sue

Happy Birthday, Sue!!

I thought "30" was the most traumatic; there's something about being over 20 that seems old.

I'd agree that "40" for men is usually a difficult birthday. I've seen it become a mid-life crisis time for some people, but it wasn't for me.

I don't know about 50. I'm not THAT old yet.

Happy Birthday Sue!
40 was an awesome b-day for me! Now, turning 41 last week put me officially "in my 40's" and that's not so good. Lol
40 was devestating for my DH, but he's fast approaching 50, so that is bumming him more.
I think it's a guy thing, none of my b-days bothered me.

chuckle hi

Thank you Sharona for your bday wishes.

My bdays never bothered me either....it is just a number to me and doesnt bother me at all . DH on the other hand lol he is going to turn 40 this year and says it is going to be very tramatic for him. I wont let him buy any convertable cars or anything else that most men do in their quest to gain their youth back

Sue

I am still trying to figure this out....

When I turned 20, I thought...., "This is going to be dreadful". I waited for the bad feelings about age to creep up on me. I turned 35 this past April and I have to say that I am STILL waiting for the age icks to hit me.

I can't rule them out as of yet, it's like waiting for that second shoe to drop....LOL

Maybe when I get my first wrinkle I will have a break down...

Katie

30 was a bad one for me, I'm really not sure why, I loved turning 40 though, but my DH had a major crisis so it must be a guy thing.

chuckle Just numbers to me...

Tis kinda funny, when I think back. At 12, I couldn't wait to hit that magical age of 13, and to be "recognized" as an offical TEENAGER! When that day eventually came, I had no feeling of any change. Coming up to my 18th. birthday, I had already graduated from High School, out in the working world, and attending beauty school, at 17 yrs. of age. I felt no change. Then came the 'big' 21st. birthday....by then I was married, with two of my three children. I felt no change. The years rolled by..30 then 40 then 50. Now at 56 going on 57, I still feel no change. BUT, there is quite a difference in "feeling" and in "looking"!! LOL LOL ~ ~ ...... As I stroll past the "tell~all" mirrors.....LOL... I CAN "SEE" the CHANGE!!!! LOL
Everything is still there BUT,..... It all seems to be rearranged!! LOL **I've heard that the truth sometimes 'hurts', but I DON"T FEEL THE CHANGE!!***

I would have to say that out of all 41 of them, 40 kind-of hit me. It wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be, 'cause I don't think of age in that way....I was going through a difficult period in my life and I think that kind-of made me feel old. I remember thinking in my teens that 20's were old. Then in my 20's thirty is old, etc.

I've come to the conclusion that age is a state of mind....Therefore, I'm a teenager!!! LOL

I celebrated my 40th this past April and I had a great day. No milestone birthday worries me, I guess I like to be a little more 'out there' the older I get.
