Happy face College Graduation

Tomorrow, Sun. May 20th; my daughter Bonnie will graduate from the State University of N.Y. at Old Westbury with her Bachelor Degree in Accounting.

We are very proud of her!

She follows my husband & 1 other daughter in the profession of counting other peoples money. LOL!!

My 1st born[my baby] will graduate next year on 6-1-08. It makes me depressed to think about it. He wants to go to Cal-U or Pitt @ Johnstown. He wants to be an English teacher. I need to start planning his graduation part now before every where fills up. I never did this before so any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Tara, I just do these parties at my house. We rent a tent, and I cook the food in advance. We have a really large family so if we have everyone there are over 100 people.

Tara,
Don't be depressed! This is cause for joy! Joy over what a good job you did parenting, that your child is secure enough to move forward with his life.
Congrats to you!!

Tara, I agree with Ellen11703. I think you did a great job parenting Richard. Especially since he is alot like Rich, he has turned out to be a great kid.
You need ot plan in advance. Why not hold something at a firehall and have people pitch in? Theres a hall in Yukon that rents for about 50 bucks. I'll see what info I can get about it.

Thanks for all the words of support girls! I like both ideas and know I need to plan ahead. If I can get the hall for cheap that would be great, then I don't have to have all the kids at my house. I do like the idea of family members making the food[if the hall allows, some make you go with caterers] as this will keep cost down.

Tara, if you can get your hands on lots of crock pots or roaster ovens, you can do the food without a caterer and without needing to use a hall's kitchen.

Last year at Big DS's graduation I served:

sausage, peppers and onions for sandwiches
meatballs and sauce for sandwiches
roast beef and gravy for sandwiches
hot dogs
chili

All of that was in roasters or crock pots. No "Sterno" required--just a few extension cords. And all of that food was "do-ahead" except the hot dogs which are very easy to make in a crock pot.

In addition, we had a few cold salads and a hoagie platter.
