As we get older the kids included the present get less and I guess more personal and not as much money spent.
Teenagers appreciate more personal things but don't seem to expect it.
We've always had a $ limit I can't see why some people go into credit debit to give their kids those expensive presents.
We only do christmas and birthday gifts till the nieces and nephews turn 18, they then get a 21st b-day present otherwise it's only cards, we all agreed as a family this would happen. ds1 is the 1st or the oldest of the kids so his 18th last year was his last. We don't do the adults but do give a $5 gift to the g'parents as a pair usually stuff I've made, cakes, sweets, a stakc fo ready to send b-day/note cards OR .....
