Madmum, this is a problem I constantly suffer with, especially in warm/hot weather. I love going barefoot, but I wear shoes, or at least flip-flops, all over, even in the house. Moisturize and file your feet regularly. The vaseline-and-socks trick mentioned above is messy, but it will work. If your cracks are deep enough that they're painful, keep them clean and apply antibacterial cream or gel (such as Bacitracin) whenever you can, and especially before bed. The cracks don't just hurt because they're cracks- if you get dirt in there, they'll get infected, and that'll be your double-whammy. I have also used an antibacterial liquid bandage called Nu Skin- it dries shortly after you apply it, so you don't have to use bandages. If Nu Skin isn't sold in the UK, ask your pharmacist for a liquid antibacterial bandage alternative that dancers or gymnasts might use.
Good luck!!
