VicRae, Do you have Dollar Tree Stores near you? I was surprised at the different crafty items they have there! I've bought yarn, hair goodies, flower picks, beads, scrapbooking, all kinds of things to craft with all year long.
If we all start saving and planning for next Christmas and the birthdays coming up, we don't have to go into debt and we will have time to make the craft items we'd like to give.
Example:
For girls, bath stuff in a basket from the dollar store with, maybe a hair clip or barrett, and don't forget the scrubby. They sometimes are 3 in a pack for a dollar, so you can use the other 2 for someone else's
For boys, there are mini tools, and items down the "hardware" isle.
Can also pick up goodie tins now everywhere 1/2 price or lower. Save them for next year and bake something nice. Many people like home made cookies, cakes, etc.
Giving should mean more if its home made and hand crafted rather than bought from store. Seems like some people have forgotten what giving is all about. It's not what you get, it's that someone thought enough of you to give you something. Giving something hand made is giving you something of themselves. Sure beats store bought when you think someone traded time from their lives for your gift, and time is so very precious to us all!
