I got my scarecrow done last night and I think he turned out pretty cute. I will post a picture later today. I did have to do improvising as I did not have any raffia on hand. I used a bit of spanish moss for the hair and brown paper bag for the arms and legs. I cut about a 1" wide strip of paper from a paper bag, crumpled it up to make it more pliable and then cut slits a long one edge about 2/3 of the way through to creat a fringe. Then I rolled the fringe up to make a mini whisk broom and glued the uncut egde into the arms and legs of the clothes. Then I ruffed up the paper so it looks straw.
I found this to be a very fun and easy project. There is a lot of room to be creative and give each scarecrow it's own personality. I also made this enitire project with things I had on hand and didn't buy anything!

I also did my salt dough pumpkins last night. I need to finish the painting and then I will post that picture also. I added some leaves and trenderils to my pumpkins made with the salt dough.
When I was first married and had very few ornaments for my Christmas tree, I made tons of ornaments from salt dough. I started making the cookie cutter type, but I got more creative as I did more. I still have a few favorites that appear on my tree each year.
