Not sure if you had thought of this but sometimes town have a community center you could rent or have a party at. Also sometimes churches rent out there fellowship halls to events and such. I know where we live a lot of people do the bowling thing or have a party at a pizza place or such. Also lots of people have a birthday party at the park pavilions here and the kids play games. One year for my son's birthday he played volleyball and soccer with the friend/friends that came as well as shooting baskets in basketball net. I think parks are a great place to have a party as the kids have plenty of room to do things and lots of activities available to them. My son had a pinata at his last birthday party. I made the pinata and his guests hit it and everyone had fun collecting the hard candy. You can use a stick or such to hit it or even a foam or plastic bat for safety sake. I hope I was able to give you a few ideas. I have done several parties for my kids over the years and it does get harder to do as they get older. My daughter will be 13 this Sept. She will probably have a sleepover with a kid or 2. Hope your party for your son goes well.
