ZIt absolutely infuriates me when somoene makes a crude remark about kids on leashes! My middle dd is now 26 but would never have lived to 2 had I not used one on her. She ran away at every opportunity. It wasn't helped by the fact that she started walking at 9 months and was tiny so could really move. She would climb store shelves and had no fear of strangers. My standard reply to anyone who had the nerve to make a comment was an icy glare and "It's better to use this than to have a dead or missing child!" They then shut up and minded their own business as they should have from the beginning.

Now that I have grandchildren and have used leashes and harneses for them too I will say the same to anyone who is bold enough to make a remark. On the flip side when I see them being used I always smile at them and say "I've been there too--good for you!".
