I think it was the Christmas of 1983. Just my second Christmas as a married person and I was about 7 months pregnant. My sister, who was single at the time, was here visiting from CO. The evening before Christmas Eve, her and some freinds went out for the evening. One of those famous sudden Iowa snow storm came up. They began the 10 mi. trip home and as they turned the last corner to head into town they got stuck in a snow bank. They spent the night in the car with a quilt between the four of them and no heat. When it was daylight my sisiter and one of her friends walk one mile to the friends parent's house. The wind was very strong and both girls had some frost bite by the time they got there. All of the girls family and friends were very worried about them while they were missing, but had no way to find them during the storm. Since I lived 3 mi from town on a road that was last on the list for the snow plow to come by, my bil brought his own tractor and snow blower 5 mi up the road to blow a path to the highway so I could get to my parents house for Christmas and see my sister. We were all very thankful that all four girls survived the cold temps and even thouh my sister had some frost bite, it would heal. I was also very gateful that my bil was so thoughtful to help me get to town and be a part of our family celebration.
