| Turket Table Decoration
Here is a simple Turkey decoration I made with my Storytime kids last year.
Need:
Toilet Tissue roll cut in half
Construction paper or Craft foam in following colors--
Brown, Tan, Orange, Yellow, Red, White
Wiggles eyes--opt.
Glue
Staples
Using one half of the Toilet tissue roll, measure and cut a strip of brown construction paper to cover the roll. Glue to roll.
Using either tan or brown paper make a turkey head-- see attachment. Make a face using either wiggle eyes or white paper circle with black eyeballs drawn in, red teardrop shape for waddle and an orange triangle for beak. Glue to brown paper roll opposite the side with the seam. Let dry.
Have the child put their hand on an orange piece of paper with fingers open. Draw around and cut out. Repeat the process with a yellow piece of paper. Making sure you have a thumb sticking out from each side and put the two hands together making them slightly ascew so you can see the different color finger feathers. Use a small amount of glue to hold together.
Using either glue or staples attach the feather to the side of the roll with the seam. Becareful not to extend the feathers beyond the bottom of the roll or your turkey will not sit up.
To finish the turkey as a table decoration, cut a heart shape out of orange paper large for enough to sit the turkey on with a bit sticking out for feet. The round part of the heart is the front and the pointed end is in the back. Run a bead of glue around bottom of roll and sit on heart. Let dry.
If you do not put feet on your turkey it could be used as a napkin holder at your Thanksgiving table.
