How to sub 1 cup sugar for maple syrup in any recipe: Use 3/4 to 1 1/4 cup maple syrup (to your taste), decrease liquid in recipe by 2-4 tbsp per cup because syrup has more moisture. Add 1/4 to 1/2 tsp baking soda (do not add soda if using buttermilk, sour milk or sour cream). Finally, decrease oven temp by 25 degrees.
