Tami, that doesn't sound weird to me. I can't be around any pine scent. Real trees send me right into an asthma attack.
We don't have a theme for our tree. But almost all our ornaments are either gifts to us, or homemade. We can remember where a lot of them came from. I keep meaning to start a little "ornament journal" that describes the ornament and its history if we know it. The kids all have their favorites that they like to hang. When they grow up and move to their own homes, I will box up "their" ornaments and give them to them for their own tree.
I use so many lights on the tree that DH says it looks like it's being X-rayed! But we put it in our HUGE (10 feet wide by 6 feet tall) front window, and it looks fabulous from outside. We have multicolored lights on the tree. No tinsel or garland. It takes me over 2 hours just to put the lights on the tree
