Janet, I vary the colour theme each year, and have my tree simple but elegant. As we use an artificial tree, I usually get a pine-scented candle and light it for the pine perfume to be around.
My tree is dark green and colours I have used are:
Blue
Gold
Red
Silver
Pale pink
then combinations.
This year I am thinking silver, mauve and purple.
I usually use some small wooden ornaments for the g/kids to enjoy but mainly keep it how I like it.
Always clear fairy lights on the tree, but do have coloured ones i the windows. Put up at least two nativity sets too.
Must start and get enthused for this year!
