FC Photo Gallery replaces Photo Album forums

In an effort to streamline our ever popular photo threads, we have installed a new program that will store all your photos, keep them organized and allow you to post replies to the photos without making it difficult to sift through.

Important: The FamilyCorner Photo Album thread will now be closed down and all photos will be housed in the Photo Gallery. Conversations can be had their as well!

Below is a short tutorial on how to use the Gallery. It VERY EASY so please don't be intimidated! You will love it as has everyone who has tested it so far. Have fun!

How to use the FC Photo Gallery

Start off by going here http://www.familycorner.com/forums/gallery or navigate there by using the "Photo Gallery" link in the forum nav bar. You can return to the forums at any time by clicking the link in the nav bar that says Forum Home.

Your Personal Photo Album
From the gallery home page, click the category that says Individual Member Albums. You should see several member albums already listed. Following these directions will set one up for you as well. Note, this is the ONLY category that will automatically create an album specifically for an individual member, the rest anyone can upload pics to.

Above the albums listed you should see a link that says upload. Click on that and then click browse to select a picture from your computer's harddrive. Give your picture a title and description. (You can upload up to five photos at one time. You can give titles and descriptions in the second step after clicking Submit.)

The category should already be preselected as Individual Member Albums, if not, go ahead and choose that one. You can put keywords in if you like, but it's not necessary, that would allow users to view pictures based on certain keywords. You can also choose to receive email updates by checking the box.

Once you click submit and your photo is displayed, it should have created a folder with your name. This is YOUR album and only you can upload photos to it.

Posting Comments/Replies
To post a comment/reply to a photo, click on the photo you want to comment on and do one of the following things:

1) click the "post reply" button
2) use the quick reply box
3) use the Image Tools drop down menu and select Reply To Image

Sending Ecards
There is an ecard option too, you can send any photo in here as an ecard. To send an ecard, click on the photo you want to send, then under the Image Tools drop down menu choose the ecard option. Follow the prompts from there.

Viewing Slide Shows
There is also a slide show option to view photos. To view a slide show, you need to be at the category of images that you want to view. For example, from the gallery home page, click on Dogs under the Pets category. Above the images displayed on the page is a drop down menu that says Category Tools. From the drop down select View Slide Show.

Helpful Hints

- If you subscribe to a photo or a category, you will recieve email notification when there are comments posted.

- When viewing someone's photo, it will have a link that says "View all of [member name]'s photos". It shows you all the pictures that member has uploaded, not just in their individual album, but elsewhere in the gallery as well.

- You can view What's New as well as What's Popular.

- The My Stuff link stores your subscriptions and favorites.

- Images that you upload and comments that you post both count toward your total user post counts!
