Tootsweet, I live about 100 miles west of Mqt. and 50 miles south of Copper Harbor. I live in Houghton County. Home of Michigan Tech, we call our students here toots...are you related? lol

I grow a veggie garden every year, this year I only grew squash, potatos, green beans, lettuce, fancy varieties of lettuce, arugula, red lettuce, endive, etc. onions, roma tomatoes, and pumpkins for my DS. I also plant marigolds all around my garden to keep the bugs away. It really helps. I dry my own seeds for marigolds from the current crop...so next year I will have a ton of seeds to sprinkle around, like grass seed. I planted green beans but deer came in to nibble the plants..I also have 2 rabbits that live near my yard. They love to eat my gladiolas just when they are popping thru the ground, no flowers for me! I have zucchini and yellow squash coming out of my ears here...I have been given so much away because my freezer is full! I have 2 drawf apple trees that usually give me enough apples for 2 pies. I planted another apple tree this year...hopefully there will be enough for 3 pies! lol:p

I also plant herbs...cilantro, parsley, dill, garlic Just stuff I use alot of. I hope to increase my herb garden.

I also have a rose garden, flower boxes, flowering bushes, tulips, irises, sunflowers, and hostas, sun on the mountains, ferns, violets, wild strawberries, lupines, lily, so I keep busy watering, pruning, picking off dead heads, and landscaping. Every year I try to add to my yard. This is my summer hobby and alot of plants I bring in for the winter...vinca vines, coleus, ivy, and so on. So I feel like I still am gardening all winter.lol

I love working outside and it is wonderful to dig in the dirt!
