One solution is a rebozo. I don't like seeing kids on leashes IF the parent is using it as a catch all. But it only takes a second for a child to run into the street. A rebozo is a beautiful alternative. I came across this link and am planning on getting one to carry my toddler. It's a great way to keep you toddler close and safe, I think it will work best for kids who like to be held and carried. As long as parents don't use leashes as an excuse to ignore their child, I think they are an invaluable tool for keeping our kids safe.
