My son went on the program in the 7th grade. He went to Europe, about 4 countries. He really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. It really helped his self-esteem at that point. We live in Hawaii so it was quite a trip for them.
I would do it again. It cost $5,000 10 years ago. They had a home stay with a family in Germany.
He still keeps in contact with a few of the students he went with.
I would say "go for it"
