Good evening all!!

I did really well at the different yard sales we hit. As predicted, my friend had cut out the different yard sales from the newspaper, taped them in the order she wanted, had gone to mapquest and printed out some spot maps so we would know where we were going, had planned where we were having lunch, the whole nine yards.

I ended up with a pair of heavy duty kitchen scissors, a wine carafe, a veggie cutter similar to the crinkle cutter I got from pampered chef, and a "tomato slicer". The veggie cutter has been used to death, but appears to have a great blade on it. If not, I have a knife sharpener that will take care of that. It says "stainless steel" on it and the handle is cast iron which was painted. Good quality. The "tomato slicer" has the original cardboard still on it. All of these were $.50 each. Then I got a bag of yarn, some really chunky, and some regular that I can use to make hats for the kids at school, for $2.00. Along with that the woman had a section of "free" stuff - so I picked up large bowl and pitcher for my sister's dry sink in her foyer. She will get the wine carafe also as she collects them.

That was it for the yard sale stuff. I think I got a heat headache from being out in that 95 degree weather.

That was also it for the frugalness. I bought my lunch, and got a good deal where we went. But we also stopped at a book store, and I bought 3 magazines, and then we stopped at AC Moore, and I bought some yarn. The yarn will make at 4 baby afghans. Just like my signature Raggedy Ann and Andy crocheted dolls, I make a baby ripple afghan that I think is the most beautiful. I use white, yellow, aqua, green, blue, lavendar, pink, and peach. This sells better than boy colors, or girl colors by themselves. It is very rich. But, I do custom orders too, no matter what my preference is.

Then onthe way back home, I stopped at the very best rib joint in the world, and bought a slab to go. For years it was just a roadside stand, with several grills and you bought the food right off the grill. It is hot, and dusty, and got car emissions mixed right in. They were still the best ribs.

I have chased these rib makers all around the immediate area of this state. At first they were a little out of the way, and I used to go several times during the summer. Even though I make great ribs, these guys make them better. Then they closed up and just disappeared for 2 summers. Then one day, I was on my way to my girlfriend's house, and spotted a sign for them. This spot is over 40 miles from where they were originally. But, since I don't go to my friend's house that often (perhaps 2 times during the summer season), I don't get the ribs that often. They still cook everything outside, but the grills are set up further back from

My nephew who is growing up and wants his freedom badly, got a cell phone from his father yesterday. His parents work on the weekends, and I am in charge. So the deal was that when I got back, I would check in with him. Usually, he has to check in with me. When I did, and told him what dinner was - he was here in a flash. These ribs were the first ribs he ever ate. He just wasn't interested. But we had gone to pick some up one afternoon, and he was hungry. So I was planning to stop at a fast food place and get him a burger on the way home. He asked if he could just try the ribs, and of course I was delighted when he ate them. He has been a big rib fan ever since then.

I think that overall, it was a pretty balanced day. I just wish I could get rid of this headache.

Well ladies, better go for now.

Take care all!! Norma
