I think I read somewhere they can live as long as 10 years. We have one that's 4 or 5 years old. Not real sure since when we got her last year, her original owner couldn't remember. Doesn't surprise me since the poor thing was underfed and not well cared for. She's gained weight, and is now a healthy, sassy brat.
It's hilarious to watch her "hide" when we're traveling or have let her out of her cage for a run. While traveling, she'll stick her head into the play tube while the rest of her is out in plain view. When out for a run, she'll go under a bar stool and hunch there. She really believes we can't see her. One time we moved the stool, and she still ran to the spot and hid!!
