Don't be tempted by the store gifts in a jar, they aren't worth it. Here's a site that has them cheap, cheap, cheap.
http://www.budget101.com/ Don't have time or the inclination to mix and meaure? Buy a box mix and put it in the jar, tie a ribbon around it and a cookie cutter or put in pancake mix from a box, put in a basket with a bottle of pancake syrup.
Also, no canning jars? use a mayonaise jar instead.
